Riddle Me This

How many Republican Plants were there at the last Democratic debate?

And, before you say Oh, it's no big deal, here's how that exchange gets offered and answered at Michelle Malkin's site :

On November 29th, 2007 at 12:04 pm, Rusty said:
Being a Democrat does not make one a “plant.” I support Hillary Clinton. Does that not mean I don’t deserve the chance to ask the Republican candidates a question?

Yup, that’s exactly what it means. It’s called a primary which is only for members of the party. And these Dem plants took away valuable question time from those that actually have a stake in the voting. You get to question the candidate the party chooses to run for President. Until then, it’s not your issue unless you switch parties.

So, to sum up, so far there were four "plants" last night:

1) Abortion questioner is declared Edwards supporter
2) Log Cabin Republican questioner is declared Obama supporter;
3) Lead toy questioner is a prominent union activist for the Edwards-endorsing United Steelworkers
4) Retired Brig General/gays in the military is Lobbyist/Hillary-Kerry supporter.

The biggest irony of all this, was that the Republicans agreed to go on CNN (Clinton News Network) while the Democrats refused to go on a Fox supported debate. What exactly did the Democrats fear, and how is that different from the treatment the Republicans got? Dishonest and despicable.

Ah ... Venezuela ...

Why go stand by side by Hugo Chavez in Venezuela? Why do that? Would you rather live under him than George Bush?

Sheehan: "Yes. Hugo Chavez is not a dictator like you introduced him. He's been democratically elected eight times. He is not anti-American, he has helped the poor people of America. He has sent aid to New Orleans, he has sold heating oil to disadvantaged people in America at low cost, and the people of his country love him."

Sean Penn:

"If the people of the United States, those millions and millions of poor people ... if that nation realizes what is truly happening here, there would be a revolution in the United States," Chavez said, eliciting applause from Penn.

Noam Chomsky:

“I have been quite interested in his policies,” Chomsky said. “Personally, I think many of them are quite constructive.” Most important, he said, Chavez seems to have the overwhelming support of the people in his country. “He has gone through six closely supervised elections,” he said.

And, in one of the most tone-deaf headlines, Venezuela's Proposed Reforms Don't Endager Democracy on the Huffy Post:

Polls indicate that the majority of Venezuelan voters may well approve the proposed constitutional reforms on December 2. If they do, the U.S. government and media - and the Venezuelan opposition - should respect the result.

I don't know what "respect the result" should mean, when already citizens in Venezuela aren't allowed to voice opposition.

A large number of National Guard and Metropolitan Police officers Wednesday prevented students of Metropolitan University (Unimet) from reaching Francisco Fajardo Avenue in Caracas to deliver fliers against the draft reform on the changes to the Constitution.

The purpose of Unimet students was to deliver informative material related to the contents of articles that President Hugo Chávez wants to change.

State security forces launched tear-gas canisters and pellets to students, who had to run.

Behold Democracy!

Remember, he is NOT a dictator, no matter how closely he resembles one.

I wonder

What is is that drives some people to live each day hoping to offend as many people as possible. Or, should I say, offending certain people.

For all the hyper PC treatment of Indians Indigenous Americans, blacks African-Americans, Islamic-radicals Muslims, etc ... liberals are perfectly happy to offend Christians without even batting an eye. I have yet to see a liberal with a bumper sticker criticizing Muslims, but I suppose there is nothing offensive about this?

And, nothing makes my blood boil more than seeing a "Fuck Bush" bumpersticker in the car ahead of me as I'm driving my five kids somewhere. I had hope the conversation in Pandagon's comments was actually showing signs of hope:

I could do without the “Bush is a dipshit” bumperstickers I see: the public debate is debased enough with obscenities written unavoidably on the vehicle in front of you.

But, fearless leader Amanda Marcotte, ever blind to reasons:

Considering how the right mostly communicates in empty slogans (the entire argument against Al Gore is that he’s a nerd and against Hillary Clinton is that she’s a scary female and against Bill Clinton is that he’s getting laid more than you, etc.), maybe it’s time to aim your criticisms against the more deserving instead of whining here.

Sorry, honey, that may be the outer limits of Republican thought that you hear, but that's only because lefties never fucking listen. Hate to get all potty-mouthed, but I could make a nice long list why I didn't vote for Gore, thought Bill was a bad president, and strongly fear Hillary as president. But, there is no point, because most liberals won't even listen/read.

And, it is pretty predictable that Marcotte's response for a desire to raise the level of discourse is basically to call the person a whiner.

Feminists finally take notice

How many times have I said to myself "Why don't feminists seem to care about the plight of women in oppressive Muslim societies?" Well, I don't honestly know, but it's a high number.

But, viola - now there is this:

Anti-choice misogynist crazies aren’t confined to the U.S. and Canada — religious conservatives kill gynecologists in Iraq, too.

Male gynaecologists are being targeted by Islamic extremists in Iraq as they are accused of invading the privacy of women. Women’s NGOs have raised concerns as there are few women gynaecologists in the country and their male counterparts are scared to continue working.

“Because of the extremists’ religious views, doctors are scared to continue with their work and the number of women gynaecologists is very low and cannot meet the demand,” said Mayada Zuhair, spokeswoman for the Women’ Rights Association (WRA).

“Extremists say that [male] doctors are not allowed to see the private parts of women and two male doctors were reportedly killed last week after leaving their clinics. A message was left near their bodies saying that was the end for any doctor who insists in invading the privacy of Muslim women,” Mayada added.

An Iraqi Medical Association (IMA) spokesman, Walid Rafi, told IRIN it knew of at least 22 male gynaecologists who had been sent threatening letters.

The justification is different, but the outcome is the same: Doctors are dead for doing their jobs. And Iraqi women are the ones who are suffering:

Heath services in Iraq have been seriously undermined by the shortage of doctors. According to the IMA, at least 75 percent of doctors, pharmacists and nurses have left their jobs at universities, clinics and hospitals. Of these, at least 55 percent have fled abroad.

“There are days when we find more than 80 patients per doctor in our hospital, an average of 170 daily. All of them are divided among the two women gynaecologists who are left in our clinic,” said Afaf Abdul-Qahar, a gynaecologist at Karada Maternity Centre, in the capital.

Glad to see we’re exporting American values so thoroughly.

See, the Islamic nutters aren't killing gynaecologists because their version of the religion is fucked. It's because of American anti-abortion nutters!

It's interest that the feminists didn't seem care about "brown" women until they could somehow, in a twisted, convoluted manner, blame it on the evil, patriarchal, American society.

But, I also want to draw attention to the hype regarding the murder of abortionists. To hear the caterwauling of the pro-abortionists, it would appear to be a crises. But since 1993, there have only been 7 murders of those related to the procedure of Abortion. Seven in 14 years. I bet more lawyers have been murdered in that time period. Certainly more cops. Yet, the feminist, pro-abortion lobby milks each murder for it's last drop of self-righteous indignation.

As I said somewhere else on the intertubes yesterday, to lefties America excels at nothing, and is the root of everything bad. I have an idea, how about considering, just for a nanosecond, that the Islamo-nuts who kill the doctors of women are motivated by something other than the influence of America's bad cultural values. Maybe, just maybe, it's something else.

Who else could we ship down there ...

It's not as if I don't have sympathy for the Cuban people, but this sounds like an excellent plan. If O.J. could blaze the trail, perhaps we could get all the other Socialist lovers to follow his example. Of course, O.J. is just trying to escape prosecution (and jail), but I've never understood why people who love socialism don't just move somewhere ELSE where socialism is going strong.

Well, of course, socialism is never "going strong" - it's always on the brink of failure. But let's not quibble about the details.

Socialism is Un-American. Don't elect Hillary!

There HAD to have been something better on tv last night

Preston Taylor Holmes has a nice wrap-up of last night's Democratic Debate debate. And, by nice I mean entertaining in that it barely touches on the debate itself. Which was horrible. I'll never get that 90 minutes of my life back.

BUSH is teh suXor

Peter Berkowitz on Bush Hatred:

In short, Bush hatred is not a rational response to actual Bush perfidy. Rather, Bush hatred compels its progressive victims-who pride themselves on their sophistication and sensitivity to nuance--to reduce complicated events and multilayered issues to simple matters of good and evil.Like all hatred in politics, Bush hatred blinds to the other sides of the argument, and constrains the hater to see a monster instead of a political opponent.

Prof. Starr shows in "Freedom's Power" that tolerance, generosity, and reasoned skepticism are hallmarks of the truly liberal spirit. His analysis suggests that the problem with progressives who have succumbed to Bush hatred is not their liberalism; it's their betrayal of it. To be sure, Prof. Starr rejects Bush administration policies and thinks conservatives have the wrong remedies for what ails America today. Yet at the same time his analysis suggests, if not a cure for those who have already succumbed, at least a recipe for inoculating others against hating presidents to come.

Ala - Bushhitler, George Bush hates black people and all the shallow, bumper sticker arguments leveled against George Bush. Often, when I end up in arguments with people of the other political persuasion, I feel as if were debating with the back of a Volkswagen.

Chavez is such a card!

This from Reuters:

Chavez, who called former conservative Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar a fascist at the weekend meeting, has courted controversy at summits before, most notably last year by calling U.S. President George W. Bush the devil at the United Nations.

Political analysts say Chavez relishes such fights because he uses them to fire up his support base among the majority poor at home with blunt rhetoric that plays on their misgivings of rich countries' investments in Latin America.

On Tuesday, he said the king's "arrogance" exposed that colonial attitudes toward South America have not died out.

But the folksy president also showed he had a sense of humor over the flap.

When a reporter asked him a series of questions about the raft of constitutional changes expected to be passed in next month's plebiscite, he joked: "Why don't you shut up?

Ha ha ha ... but you know, what do you expect from a folksy president? I mean, sure he's seized private property, and paved the way for him to become leader for life ... but he's just so gosh-darn likable.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez demanded on Tuesday Spain's king apologize for telling him to shut up, warning that Spanish investments could suffer in its former colony because of the spat.

Chavez, who railed against imperialism and capitalism, named banks Santander and BBVA as possible targets, saying the OPEC nation did not need Spanish business.

"The king lost it," Chavez said at a late-night political rally. "He should say, '... I, the king, confess, I was beside myself, I made a mistake."

ALL HAIL CHAVEZ. You must kiss my ass, or I will seize the billions of dollars you have (foolishly) invested in Venezuela.

I don't think he's joking about that second part. How high, do you think, Spain will jump?

Pot/kettle

If Iran wants to execute gays and lesbians, I don't know why it's any of our business.

Homosexuals deserve to be executed or tortured and possibly both, an Iranian leader told British MPs during a private meeting at a peace conference, The Times has learnt.

Mohsen Yahyavi is the highest-ranked politician to admit that Iran believes in the death penalty for homosexuality after a spate of reports that gay youths were being hanged.

I mean, we won't even let homosexuals marry, so it's not as if we have any room to talk.

As for this:

The latest row involves a woman hanged this June in the town of Gorgan after becoming pregnant by her brother. He was absolved after expressing his remorse. Britain said that this demonstrated the unequal treatment of men and women in law and breached Iran’s pledge to restrict the death penalty to the most serious crimes.

I'm sure the bitch had it coming. Did she show ANY remorse? I doubt it. Fricken Lolita, is what she was ...

Act Now!

The Jena 6 need more money for bling their defense!

Don't be distracted by the videos, and the accusations that fund donated for defense attorneys is being used for bling, cars, and travel expenses. From the Chicago Tribune:

Michael Baisden, a nationally syndicated black radio host who is leading a major fundraising drive on behalf of the Jena 6, has declined to reveal how much he has collected. Attorneys for the first defendant to go to trial, Mychal Bell, say they have yet to receive any money from him.

I'm sure a check got lost in the mail or something.

Meanwhile, photos and videos are circulating across the Internet that raise questions about how the donated money is being spent. One photo shows Robert Bailey, one of the Jena 6 defendants, smiling and posing with $100 bills stuffed in his mouth. Another shows defendants Carwin Jones and Bryant Purvis modeling like rap stars at the Black Entertainment Television Hip-Hop music awards last month in Atlanta.

The teenagers' parents have strongly denied that they have misused any of the donated money. Bailey's mother, for example, insisted that the $100 bills shown in the photograph were cash her son had earned as a park maintenance worker.

"Misused" is such an ugly word. And so ... lacking in specific meaning. You say potay-to, I say pota-to.

Honestly, I don't know what all the gripping is about. If the boys needed some ca$h to buy some bling, clothes, and cars- it's only to be expected. You can't expect them to walk the red carpet looking like regular folk.

Puppy Report

We took Oskar for a nice long walk yesterday, and he was SO TIRED last night. He just lay on the floor all night.

Pat went to wake him to take him potty, and he just peed right on his little "bed" we'd made for him. WHILE HE WAS LAYING DOWN. Barely woke up.

I have to say, that was a first. Never saw that before.

Anyway, this morning we went outside and made his business (1& 2) like a good doggie.

Oskar update

Oskar is afraid of the stairs. He's probably never encountered them in his life (5 months) - and they are wood, so tricky for the experienced.

Anyway, I looked it up, and it's apparently something with large breeds that you shouldn't push. So, push I won't. I'll walk him around outside. That should get old pretty quick. The things I do for doggies.

This is what socialism looks like

Venezuela:

On Thursday, protesters staged the biggest demonstration against Chavez in months, and appeared to revive Venezuela's languid opposition. Soldiers responded with tear gas canisters, plastic bullets and water cannons to scatter tens of thousands who said the amendments would violate civil liberties and derail democracy.

The pro-government VEA newspaper on Friday predicted an overwhelming victory and urged government supporters to join "a life or death battle in which the present and future of the Venezuelan nation is in play.

See, you can't really protest in a socialist society because the government has already decided what is best for everyone. Protesting that "you" are unhappy with the situation is a sign that you haven't conformed to the idea that individuality, and your personal happiness, takes a back seat to the "common good." Don't make me go all "enemy of the state" and what not, because that brings up such bad memories.

Protesters hit with tear gas, plastic bullets and water cannons

So, it's finally here. The day when we've totally lost our right to protest. To voice our displeasure at the government. Bushitler and his facsist thugs have finally implemented KKKarl Rove's evil plan ...

Soldiers used tear gas, plastic bullets and water cannons to scatter tens of thousands who massed Thursday to protest constitutional reforms that would permit Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to run for re-election indefinitely.

Led by university students, protesters chanted "Freedom! Freedom!" and warned that 69 amendments drafted by the Chavista-dominated National Assembly would violate civil liberties and derail democracy.

Oops, my mistake. We're talking about Hollywood's favorite Venezuelan thug, Hugo Chavez. Really, what's the big deal? Obviously Chavez is the most qualfied to be the king leader down there, and Sean Penn and Kevin Spacey seemed to like him. I'm sure if the people are not happy with him, they'll just vote 'em out of office. Perhaps Jimma Carter can oversee the voting process?

Sick

And lacking motivation/inspiration.
